Sketchit key · tween · flip
hold H to pan · wheel to zoom
640×480 frame 1 · key
Ready. Draw a keyframe, add another, then Generate Inbetweens.

How Sketchit works

  1. Draw a pose. Press K (or + Keyframe) and draw the next pose.
  2. Choose how many inbetween frames go in each gap, and an easing.
  3. Press Generate Inbetweens. Playback fills in automatically.

Tools

  • Brush (B) — freehand, pressure-aware on pen tablets.
  • Line / Rect / Ellipse (L R O) — drag to draw; hold Shift to snap angles or constrain to square/circle. Shapes are normal strokes, so they morph like anything else.
  • Fill (P) — click inside a region to flood-fill it with the ink colour. Fills sit under your strokes, morph between keyframes, and stack (pour one colour, then another).
  • Brush tips — round brush, hard pencil, translucent marker, soft airbrush. The tip applies to new strokes of any drawing tool and interpolates like everything else.
  • Move (V) — drag strokes on the current frame to reposition them.
  • Eraser (E) — removes whole strokes it touches.
  • Eyedropper (I) — click to sample a colour, drops you back to the brush.
  • Colour picker — the ink swatch opens an in-page picker (saturation/value square, hue strip, hex field). Every colour is one click away; no OS dialog.

View

  • Mouse wheel zooms at the cursor; hold H and drag (or middle-drag) to pan.
  • Flip (F) mirrors the view like an animation light-table disc — your strokes stay under the cursor and are saved unflipped.
  • 0 fits the stage, 1 is actual size.

Keyframes vs generated

Amber tabs are your keyframes. Dusty-blue tabs are generated inbetweens. If you draw on a generated frame it becomes fixed (solid blue) — Generate keeps your fix and rebuilds only the frames around it.

Awkward cases

  • Stroke counts differ between keys: strokes are matched by position, length, direction and colour. Matched strokes morph; extras fade in or out.
  • Empty frame: the other key's strokes fade in/out across the gap.
  • One keyframe only: nothing to interpolate — Generate just tells you to add another.
  • Imported images: raster keys cross-fade (vector keys drawn over them morph as usual).
